All you need to do is three basic steps:

Skin Care Tips and try at your home basic facialCleanse tone and moisturize. Additional steps might include steaming, exfoliating and masking. Each of these steps is outlined below, along with suggested recipes for you to try.

Preparing is very important in giving yourself a “relaxing” facial at home.  You do not want to have to search for something once you get started.  Gather all the supplies you will need.  These supplies are:

  • 2 slices of cucumber or freshly steeped tea bags
  • Headband and hair tie
  • Washcloth
  • Basic facial cleanser
  • Eye makeup remover
  • Damp hot towel (The key to a true spa experience at home)
  • Mask for your skin type
  • Clean small paintbrush
  • Moisturizer

Cleanse your face with a gentle handmade cleanser such as Rose Cream Cleanser. Use upward, circular movements of the fingertips to gently stimulate the skin and help lift surface debris and excess oil. Rinse with warm water and gently pat excess moisture from face with a soft towel. If you wear heavy make-up, you might wish to repeat the cleansing process.

Apply scrub on your face according to your skin type.

  1. To open pores, steam face over hot water or press warm cloth to skin for a few minutes.
  2. After preparing scrub, apply it to face (and neck if desired). Avoid eye area.
  3. Optional: Use a facial sponge or brush to maximize exfoliation.
  4. Rinse off with water. Some facial scrub recepies are given below:

Honey Sugar Scrub
If you have ever used a body sugar scrub, you know how amazing they are. Work the same magic on your face!

1 tsp. of honey
1/2 tsp. of sugar (either cane or brown — both work well)

Blend in bowl. Apply.
Rinse very thoroughly, as this recipe can be slightly sticky.

Milk and Honey Scrub
Maximize or minimize its moisturizing effect at will.

Choose your dairy:
1 tsp Skim Milk (Oily skin)
1 tsp 2% Milk (Normal or combination)
1 tsp Cream (Dry)

1 tsp honey
1 tbsp ground almonds

Banana Scrub
A very finely textured, delicious-smelling scrub. Can double as a mask.

2 tsp mashed banana
2 tsp rolled oats
1 tsp milk
1 tsp honey

Basic Baking Soda Scrub
Perfect for everyday use.

2 to 3 Tbsp. Baking soda
Small amount of water

Mix the ingredients into a paste.
Using a circular motion, apply to face and gently scrub.

Rose Almond Face Scrub
To brighten and soften skin.

1 tsp rosewater
1/2 tsp almond flour or finely ground almonds.

Mix into paste and apply.

Apply your Mask

Find a mask that is best for your skin type.  Apply it with a paintbrush or your fingers.  The paintbrush will add to the spa experience.  Apply a good amount of the mask to all the areas of your face, neck, and chest.  Be sure not to get it in your eyes.  Allow mask to sit for ten minutes

Pamper your Eyes

Before you rinse off your mask, apply the cucumber slices or tea bags on your eyes.  Relax and enjoy your music while you wait.

Rinse Mask

With a warm wet towel, wipe off the mask.  Pay attention to the areas around your hair line and your nose.

Apply your moisturizer.  This is the perfect time to give yourself a much deserved facial massage.  Don’t forget your temples.
